Frontier Optima belongs to the chloroacetamide herbicide group (HRAC Group K3), which acts by inhibiting cell division in plants. Frontier Optima contains only the biologically active isomer of dimethenamid. It is a pre-emergence herbicide that prevents weed emergence and should therefore be applied before weed germination.
At an application rate of 180 mL/dunam, the product is also effective against purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus) when applied before flowering.
